Rainmaker, Majek Fashek is taking strong baby-steps back to full showmanship.
The legendary singer was a surprise performer at the 2015 edition of
The Headies, held at Landmark Events Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.
He was introduced on stage by Timi Dakolo and South African-based
guitarist, Kunle Ayo- both of whom served as back-up singers to Majek.
Majek Fashek, who recently came out of rehabilitation over his chronic drug use, performed the evergreen classic, Send down the rain.
Although his rendition was sometimes off-key, Majek gave an energetic
performance that gave many hope that he may be on his way to full
recovery.
While he performed, most of the audience were on their feet to show love and support.
Before leaving the stage, Majek Fashek said: “God bless you all. Happy new year. One love.”
Another interesting that happened was when Julius Agwu and
rapper, Ill Bliss were invited on stage to announce the Best Rap Song
category.
After the plaque had been presented to the representative of MI
Abaga- the winner of the category- the comedian chipped in a few words.
He advised rappers to always put God first in their music career
while stating that the entertainment industry has been taken over by the
devil.
Agwu said: “Our business is being overtaken by Lucifer. Always
mention God before you perform. I am aliving testimony that God works.”
Nowadays, Julius Agwu doesn’t miss an opportunity to preach about the
word of the Good Lord, and also talk about the negatives in the
Nigerian music industry.
If Julius is not pointing out the flaws of his colleagues, he’s calling out some of them for having children out of wedlock.
Since attaining a new lease of life, there’s been hardly any public
event where he gets hold of the microphone, that he won’t reiterate the
fact that the devil is in the entertainment industry.
