Ethiopian Airlines have revealed the bodies of victims aboard the Ethiopia Airlines flight 302 that crashed in the early hours of Sunday will be released in days.
Ethiopian Airlines said it would take up to five days before families of the those who lost their lives can receive their victims’ remains.
Asrat Begashaw, spokesman of Ethiopian Airlines spoke reporters on Tuesday in Addis Ababa that it might take even longer for the identification of others.
“The process of identifying the victims will take at least five days. Families will be notified,” he said.
It was reported on Sunday morning that The Boeing 737 MAX 8 airplane plunged into a field minutes after take-off from Addis Ababa, killing all 157 people aboard.
Speaking to Reuters, an expert said that due to the impact and ensuing fire, it could take weeks before some remains could be identified or months and may need to be done via dental records or DNA.
Officials recovered the plane’s black box on Monday which should help piece together the aircraft’s last moments.
Four countries have grounded the Boeing 737 MAX jets after the crash in Ethiopia which followed another involving the same model in Indonesia six months ago.
