The Lagos state police command sealed off an event center in John Ogunnaike Street, Ikeja, Lagos, today for violating COVID-19 protocols.
According to the police, the approval for the party was for 100 guests, outdoor, not indoor.
The party had more than 300 guests in the Hall contrary to the Safety Commissions approval.
Lagos CP, Hakeem Odumosu while sealing up the event centre, arrested the wedding organizers.
Kemi Filani recalls that the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force (PTF), Mr Boss Mustapha, recently imposed new restrictions amidst the rising cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) across the country.
The new restrictions include the closure of all bars, nightclubs, pubs and event centres, as well as recreational venues in all states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
All restaurants were also directed to close, except those providing services to hotel residents, takeaways, home deliveries, and drive-ins. Similarly, all open and formal festivity events, including weddings, conferences, congresses, office parties, concerts, seminars, sporting activities, end of year events, have been limited to not more than 50 people.
The government also restricted all parties linked to religious events to less than 50 per cent of the capacity of the facility of use which physical distancing and use of face masks should be strictly enforced.
