Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, on Saturday, named former Governorship aspirant, Tivlumun Nyitse, as his new Chief of Staff.
This is as his former Chief of Staff, Terwase Orbunde, on Friday resigned from the office to run for the 2023 Benue Governorship election.
KemiFilaniNews reported that over 14 appointees of Governor Ortom Including Commissioners, Heads of Parastatals, aides, his Chief Press Secretary, and Chief of Staff, recently resigned.
The appointees stepped down to focus on their 2023 political ambitions.
Governor Ortom had during a meeting with top government appointees including Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Head of Service, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Commissioners, Special Advisers, Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs as well as Principal Special Assistants, at the Benue People’s House, Makurdi, on September 15th, 2021, reaffirmed his earlier directive for all his appointees seeking elective positions to resign before or on the 30th of September, 2021 or be relieved of their appointments.
Some of those that resigned are; Prof. Dennis Ityavyar Commissioner for Education, Terver Akase, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Hon. Terwase Orbunde, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Bemsen Agugu, PSA on Rural Electrification, Hon. Vera Akua, PSA on Politics, Hon. Anthony Ibu, SSA on Abuja Liaison, Hon. Ngunan Addingi, Commissioner for Information.
Others include; Comrd PST. Ojotu Ojema, Commissioner Youth & Sports Devt, Engr Dondo Ahire, Commissioner for Water Resources & Environment, Hon. Michael Awange, SSA Urban Devt, Hon. Ikuran P. Abul, SSA Youth Mobilization, James Igbudu, SSA Media & ICT, Rt. Hon. Sule Audu, PSA Investment, and Andrew Ayabam, Chairman Benue Internal Revenue Service.
According to the statement by the Governor, Nyitse’s appointment takes immediate effect.
