In a series of tweets, APC stated that fake news when it’s political, often spread faster than other fake news.
The All Progressives Congress, APC, had warned against the dangers of spreading fake news on social media.
They tweeted:
“Fake news has the tendency to become viral among the public. With the presence of social media platforms like Twitter, it becomes easier for false info to diffuse quickly. Research has found that false political information tends to spread “3 times” faster than other false news.
“On Twitter, false tweets have a much higher chance of being retweeted than truthful tweets.”
This they did in response to a tweet which states the aim of fake news.
“Fake news is written and published usually with the intent to mislead in order to damage an agency, entity, or person, and/or gain financially or politically, often using sensationalist, dishonest, or outright fabricated headlines to increase readership”.
