Following their qualification to the last four of the CAF Confederations Cup, Enyimba FC have been promised full support to see them through all oppositions, according to Abia State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.
The Peoples Elephant booked a semi-final clash with Raja Casablanca of Morocco, after whitewashing Rayon Sport of Rwanda 5-1 on Sunday and a delighted Okezie pledged to give the two-time African champions maximum support to scale the hurdles of the North Africans who are tipped as one of the favorites to win the tournament.
Ikpeazu, who was at the refurbished Enyimba International Stadium, Aba to watch the team trounce Rayon Sport, said he was impressed with the performance of the players, who he said showed determination to win the game.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Enyinnaya Apollos, Ikpeazu also commended the club’s management, the coaches, their supporters and residents of Aba, who trooped out en masse to cheer the team to victory.
He added: “Enyimba players (should) go all out and win the continental trophy as a way of appreciating the state government for providing a world-class pitch for them as well as their ever loyal and supportive fans across the nation.”
The governor congratulated Enyimba for the win and promised to provide necessary support to the team, in order for them to once again make history, even as they are currently as the only surviving Nigeria club side in CAF competitions.
