Nollywood actor turned politician, Yul Edochie, has announced his withdrawal from the 2023 presidential race.
According to him, he came about the decision after deliberations with his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.
In a social media post, Yul Edochie revealed that he and his party, after the deliberations, realised that they lacked the structure to win the presidential election.
He wrote, “To understand Nigerian politics well buy form and run for office. Win or lose your eye go clear. You’ll stop ranting and start looking at facts. Politicians don’t share money because they want to, they share money because the people demand money. Without it, only a few will listen to you.
“Politics is not done with sentiments. If you do you’ll likely fail and keep failing. Politics is done with facts.
That’s why my brother Banky W left his former party and joined PDP. He simply put sentiments aside and embraced facts.
“He realized that his former party does not have the capacity to win the seat for him. And building structure for a party is not a one man thing. It takes a lot. So he simply moved. It doesn’t make him a bad person. That’s politics.
“I wanted to run for President with APGA. After much consultations & meetings. We sat and did our evaluations. We put sentiments aside & embraced facts. Our party is good but does not have the capacity at the moment to win a Presidential seat. So I didn’t move further.”
