Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie has appealed to the President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to release Nnamdi Kanu.
Taking to his Instagram page, the movie producer sang the praises of President Tinubu, hailing him as a man who fought for democracy for 3 decades.
Describing the president as a builder and supporter of mën and women, he begged for him to release Nnamdi.
“To our leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, @officialBAT GCFR. The Jagaban. A man who has fought for democracy for 3 decades. A builder & supporter of men & women. My President, please release Nnamdi Kanu. A humble request from your son, Yul Edochie”.
Nnamdi Kanu arrested
Kemi Filani reported in 2021 that Nnamdi Kanu was re-arrested and brought back to Nigeria to face his trial.
Kanu was first arrested on October 14, 2015, on an 11-count charge bordering on terrorism, treasonable felony, managing an unlawful society, publication of defamatory matter, illegal possession of firearms, and improper importation of goods, among others.
He fled the country in September 2017 after an invasion of his home by the military in Afara-Ukwu, near Umuahia, Abia State.
The Nigerian government obtained a court order on September 20, 2017, to designate IPOB a terrorist group, and to proscribe it.
Nnamdi Okwu Kanu is a British-Nigerian political activist who advocates for the secession and independence of Biafra from Nigeria. He is the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, which he founded in 2014.

In May following Tinubu’s inauguration, Yul Edochie celebrated the president and his vice.
Taking to his Instagram page, Yul congratulated the newly elected leaders as he rained prayers on them.
The father of four prayed for God to give them all they need to lead the country to greater heights.
“Congratulations to our new President and Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu and His Excellency Kashim Shettima. May God give you all you need to lead our country to greater heights”.
