Nigerian sensational singer, Adekunle Gold has revealed his reasons behind helping 2013 winner of the MTN Project Fame, Olawale
It is no more news that Olawale who is well known to be talented and also won the singing competition sponsored by MTN in 2013, was spotted working as an Uber driver following his current financial constraints
Adekunle Gold, during a recent interview with Cool Fm revealed that the honesty and dignity in labour portrayed by Olawale after the story went viral pushed him not only to help him with a song he wrote but also to book a studio session and shoot a music video for him
In Adekunle’s words;
So there’s this guy called Olawale, he won Project Fame and I can’t remember which year. When I saw his video that went viral talking about him doing uber and how people have abused him on how do you go from winning Project Fame to riding Uber, and he was just being honest.
He was just saying I can’t steal, I don’t know how to steal, a man has to do what he has to do to fend for himself. And that touched me because that’s everything I’ve always been about. My essence is always just Work.
The dignity in labour is underrated in this country. People do so much, but they don’t get celebrated. You don’t even need to celebrated for what you are doing, but at least get rewarded. So it just touched me ‘I should help this guy’.
It may be recalled that recently,Adekunle Gold alongside his newly wedded wife, Simi have come under attack by some Nigerians for being against youths who engage in internet fraud.
It appears the couple would stop at nothing to dicourage people from carrying out the illicit act. Their action soon sparked an outrage, prompting the response of popular police PRO, Dolapo Badmus who dared those guilty of the crime to report themselves to the nearest police station if they indeed believe that they are in the right
