Netizens have come to the defence of Afrobeat singer, Davido after a Twitter user called him out for not attending his rival, Wizkid’s mother candlelight procession.

Kemi Filani reported on Tuesday that the singer and his family had held a low-key candlelight procession for his beloved mother.

A Twitter user, identified as Praise had questioned why Davido wasn’t in attendance at the procession.

He tweeted, “OBO why you no attend Wiz watch night?”

Defending him, some netizens noted how Wizkid would have never attended if Davido was in a similar situation.

Recall when the news of Wizkid’s mother’s death broke out, Davido was among the first celebrities to send his condolence message to him, via his Instagram story.

Consoling him, Davido stated that sadness flies away on the wings of time, as he promised to keep him in his prayers.

Before her death, Davido had run into her at the airport where he helped carry her bag, calling her a first-class citizen.

He had heaped praises on her, describing her as an amazing woman.

It is no longer news that Wizkid had lost his mother, Mrs Jane Dolapo Balogun, who died at around 1.30 a.m. on Friday, August 18th.

Sunday Aare, Wizkid’s longtime manager, confirmed the sad news to The Punch.

Two months after her death, the deceased is set to be buried in grand style as arrangements for her burial are already in top gear.

The family of Wizkid had released her funeral arrangement which began with a wake keep night which was held yesterday, Wednesday night.

In a video that made rounds online, Wizkid was seen looking downcast at her candle night procession.

In a live video shared by his sister, he was seen looking forlorn and close to tears with his head bowed.

Since her death, the star artist has chosen to step back from the limelight and social media.
