This year, the likes of Ayo Makun, Orezi, and Small Doctor lost their homes to a fire outbreak.
In November, Orezi shared on social media that his house, valued at over 300 million Naira, was destroyed by fire.
The tragic news hit him unexpectedly while he was at a meeting in Lekki country. His neighbor, Bobrisky, called him with the alarming news, which Orezi initially dismissed as a cruel joke. But reality struck hard when he arrived home to find his house reduced to a Smokey mess.
This heartbreaking incident drew an outpouring of sympathy from the online community.
Also last month, the Lagos home of singer Small Doctor was razed by fire.
A video from the scene showed some people trying to salvage some properties from the house as the fire raged. Though properties were destroyed in the fire, Small Doctor said no life was lost.
In August, AY’s Lagos house was gutted by fire when his wife and kids were overseas and millions of properties were destroyed.
Videos online captured the moment a Lagos State Fire Service truck tried quenching the raging fire.
Ayo expressed gratitude that his wife and kids were saved, as he stated that his family and God are the most important thing.
Noting how everything else comes and goes, he stated that as long as he and his wife remain united, they will be unstoppable.
A similar incident happened to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi in April, as a building apartment in the palace was razed down by fire.
Narrating what happened, the Palace Spokesperson, Moses Olafare, in a public statement, said the inferno was triggered by a power surge and had been brought under control, and no causality and cultural items were lost during the incident.
