Serena’s greatest trophy waits at home for her— Husband assures after her Wimbledon loss

Just as Serena Williams shares her emotional speech after losing the Ladies’ Single Final to German player Angelique Kerber on Saturday, her husband, Alexis Ohanian has revealed that their daughter, Olympia, is the greatest trophy for his wife.
Taking to social media, Alexis, who has been performing Daddy’s duties also made reference to the post-natal surgery his wife had days after giving birth.
He wrote: “Days after our baby girl was born, I kissed my wife goodbye before surgery and neither of us knew if she would be coming back.

We just wanted her to survive—10 months later, she’s in the #Wimbledon final.

Congratulations, @angie.kerber.

@serenawilliams will be holding a trophy again soon—she’s got the greatest one waiting at home for her. Our family knows she’ll win many more trophies, too.

She’s just getting started. And I couldn’t be more proud.”

The former world No1 had already revealed in an interview with Vogue that she was bedridden for six weeks after the birth of Alexis Olympia last year following an emergency caesarean section. Williams said the pregnancy had gone smoothly before she encountered problems: “First my C-section wound popped open due to the intense coughing I endured as a result of the embolism. I returned to surgery, where the doctors found a large hematoma, a swelling of clotted blood, in my abdomen. And then I returned to the operating room for a procedure that prevents clots from traveling to my lungs.”
