The Lagos State Government has again shunned Nollywood actress Ruth Kadiri as Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu honours some female Nollywood stars to mark the 2022 International Women’s Day.

Some Nollywood stars, Adunni Ade, Adebimpe Oyebade and Toyin Abraham, Mo Abudu, had earlier this week taken to their social media page to express appreciation to Governor Sanwo-Olu for the award of recognition.

The recognition award was to honour 100 EKO women for their trailblazing works, inspiring young girls, including women and outstanding contributions towards building a greater Lagos.

As many Nollywood stars continue to flaunt their awards on social media, nothing has been seen on Ruth Kadiri’s page, which could mean she probably may not have received an award from the Lagos State Government.

In 2021, Ruth Kadiri was also ignored during a prestigious award ceremony for female Nollywood stars organized by the Lagos State government and Mo’ Abudu.

Kemi Filani News recalls Ruth Kadiri took to her official Instagram page to express her displeasure to the organisers of the awards for not finding her worthy and deserving.

According to Ruth, the film industry is controlled by women hence the reason she was overlooked and not included among the awardees.

In her words; “I am a filmmaker. I am a woman. I am a hard-working woman. I have faced the struggles every woman/filmmaker has faced. Did my name at any point pop up yes, but because i do not belong to a click? Yet again, i have been overlooked will not be pressured. I will keep working hard. @lagosstategovt @moabudu @ijayonah @nifsummit thanks for overlooking me and congrats to everyone who got recognized.”
