“What started with joy ended a bit sober” Regina Daniels reacts to Super Eagles’ loss at AFCON

Regina Daniels speaks on Super Eagles' loss

Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels has weighed into the defeat of Super Eagles at the just concluded AFCON 2023 match.

Kemi Filani reported on Wednesday that the Super Eagles had defeated South Africa in the Semi-final and had qualified for the Final against Ivory Coast.

The match which was held on Sunday, saw Ivory Coast beating Nigeria 2-1 thereby emerging the champions of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Taking to her Instagram page, Regina noted how what started with joy ended a bit sober. Describing the match as a tough evening for almost every Nigerian, she stated that nevertheless, the Super Eagles did amazing.

For her, she enjoyed the unity and happiness amongst Nigerians the past week. She added that it was filled with so much fun, laughter, and cruise and she is assured we would enjoy more moments with the entire country in jubilation.

“Chai! Yesterday was a very tough evening for almost every Nigerian. What started with joy ended a bit sober. Nevertheless, we did amazing and I so enjoyed the unity and happiness amongst us this past week. It was filled with so much fun, laughter, and…… cruise. I know we will enjoy more moments with the entire country in jubilation”.

Regina isn’t the only celebrity who spoke out on the country’s loss. Many celebrities took to their Instagram pages to react to the sad news.

Iyabo Ojo issued a PSA, admonishing anyone not to vex her for the next 3 years or risk facing her wrath. She however gave kudos to Nwabali for keeping the flag on.

Reality TV star Phyna cried out as she queried if Nigeria was cursed. She went on to cry out over the misfortune that seemed to constantly befall Nigeria. She further revealed that she had staked a high amount of money for Nigeria to win and had unfortunately lost it all.

Gospel singer, Tim Godfrey stated that he needed a doctor. Mary Njoku noted how the pressure on Nwabali was too much as she questioned where the other footballers were. Skitmaker Kiekie noted how we are all one, hence the cup is for all Africans.

Yul Edochie, on his part, was mercilessly dragged over his failed prophecy on the AFCON final.

Hours before the match, Yul had predicted that the match would favor Nigerians as he revealed that the game would not get to a penalty shootout.

Unfortunately, his prediction didn’t come to pass as Nigerians lost to Ivory Coast 2-1 and Nigerians dragged him.

Recall that during the Semi-final, Regina Daniels and her husband, Ned Nwoko watched the live match in Ivory Coast.

Regina recounted her 24-hour experience in Ivory Coast, describing the experience as filled with so much bliss.
