Popular billionaire, Lulu-Briggs finally gets burial date, 2 years after his death

Lulu Briggs

Popular Kalabari billionaire, Lulu-Briggs has been buried, 2 years after his death.

Lulu-Briggs, whose full name is High Chief Olu Benson Lulu-Briggs was a business mogul, philanthropist, and industrialist.

According to an announcement by the Oruwari Briggs House of Abonnema in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, he will be laid to rest on the 13th of March, 2021.

Until his death, the late Lulu-Briggs was also the Paramount Head of Oruwari House of Abonnema.

But for controversies and litigations that trailed his demise, including legal tussles in Nigerian and Ghanaian Courts over where the deceased truly died and who should take possession of his remains, the oil and gas industry player would have long been buried.

The outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent restrictions by the federal and state governments as regards funerals and large gatherings further elongated the final burial rites.

Kemi Filani News recalls that the reason for the delay in his burial is the lingering bad-blood between his eldest son, Dumo – a former Rivers state gubernatorial aspirant under Accord Party and the deceased’s wife Mrs Seinye Briggs over the cause of the billionaire’s death and the content of his Will.

It was gathered that, the content of the Will further escalated the matter as Dumo doubted the authenticity of the Will claiming it must have been doctored in favour of Seinye, who got substantial amount of wealth, while the rest of the asset was left in trust to be managed on behalf of the children and their off springs.

A source further revealed that the late High Chief did not accommodate any of his three older sons in the Will, but stated clearly that they should be taken care of. However, the source added that, it was stated in the Will unequivocally that any of his sons who instigates trouble against his wish should be automatically cut off from the Lulu-Briggs Estate.
