‘Not all Edo women are prostitutes, all the ones abroad are gainfully employed’ – Imade Osawaru

Talented filmmaker, Imade Osawaru has expressed her concerns over the consistent narrative that a larger percentage of Edo State Women are into prostitution.

In a recent interview she said, “The prostitution narrative is a grapevine that has unfortunately become the general perception of the Edo woman. As far as I know and from the time I spent abroad I can categorically tell you that Edo women abroad are gainfully employed. I don’t think there is any narrative I would want to change because my Edo women are hard working and goal getters, and every other narratives/insinuations people have about us are their opinions everyone have the right to their own opinion,” she noted.

Imade Osawaru, also opened up about her personal life.

The movie star who marked her birthday a few days ago, stated that she sees nothing wrong in settling down with a fan, as long he meets up with her criteria.

Recalling her recent embarrassing encounter with a fan in Benin City, she said, “I had a very funny and embarrassing encounter with a stubborn fan recently. The guy came for my Aunty’s burial in Benin. He came with the vendors as one of their waiters and it was surprising when my friend said ‘Imade someone wants to talk to you’. I said ‘Ok’ and the next thing I saw one of the waiters saying he is shy because he is on his working uniform and that he is one of my biggest fans that he still can’t believe he is seeing face to face. He made sure the table that has my name was well fed that day. He begged me to snap pictures with me. He even waited till we the family are ready to leave even after his boss has left. Funnily enough, I can marry someone like him, if he can meet up to my criteria; respectful, loving, caring and must have plenty money to spend.”
