Many Nigerians have cried foul over contestant Comfort’s triumph into the top four contestants making it to the finals of the ongoing Nigerian Idol musical TV show.
The the top 4 captivated their judges Seyi Shay, Obi Asika, DJ Sose, and guest judge for the night Praiz with a show of two performances each, in Sunday night’s episode of Nigerian Idol season 6.
Kemi Filani reports that contestant Francis was the first of the five to make it to the top four. He sang Bob Marley’s evergreen tune, ‘Nuh Woman Nuh Cry’, which earned him praises from guest judge Praiz.
Akunna was the second contestant to enter the top 4. Her first performance was 90s chart-topper, ‘It Wasn’t Me’ by Shaggy.
Comfort Alalade was also lucky enough to garner enough fan votes to get a spot in the top 4, while, Kingdom beat Faith Jason to earn a spot in the top 4.
Meanwhile, Comfort’s performance has got fans wondering why she is still on the show. Many have cried foul and criticized her performances as not standard and worthy enough for TOP 4.
One Jima wrote “The song was so lifeless. She didn’t do justice at all. Grace has really brought her this far.”
One Victory Chima wrote “And I’m wondering why people are still voting for her, while talented singers like Faith Jason are being eliminated, Nigerians and their pity votes… Nonsense!!”
One Precious wrote “At this point of the competition Comfort knows the truth. Who else noticed she was quite apprehensive before her name was mentioned? That made it obvious to me that she knew she wasn’t safe anymore….”
One Sandy wrote “The truth is she still has a lot to learn and do about music ,it’s her dream she didn’t give up.despite all the weekly trolls she keeps moving oh.i hail her fans oh”
One Essien wrote “Comfort, I hated all your performances, but I now realize that God is by your side. You’re favoured dear.”
One Sule Ahmed wrote “I’ve said it time and again, she’s not in the same league as the rest. Didn’t deserve to be in the top 10 at all. The judges eased up a bit on saying the complete truth in order not to kill her confidence. But truth is, she’s just okay decent at best and not Nigerian idol material.”
One Egbekunle Kayode wrote “When God is behind someone , no one can pull the person down, “I have seen something else under the sun: The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all.”.With this I strongly believe that Comfort has been really favoured by God. Best of luck to Comfort”
