    Nigerians imitate Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala’s dressing to celebrate her emergence as WTO Director-General (photos)

    Following the successful appointment of former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as the Director-General of the World Trade Organization, making her the first woman and African to lead the organization, Nigerians have taken to social media to celebrate her in a unique way.

    Using the hash tag #BeLikeNgoziChallenge on twitter, Nigerians share photos of themselves dressed in African print and headgear that is peculiar to Ngozi Iweala.

    Kemi Filani recalls that Ngozi Iweala’s WTO DG confirmation happened at the General Council’s special meeting on Monday, after a thorough selection process involving eight qualified candidates from around the world.

    Ngozi’s appointment was announced on the official Twitter handle of the World Trade Organisation, WTO.

    The Tweets reads, “Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala from Nigeria is appointed as the next WTO Director-General.

    “Her term starts on the 1st of March 2021.”

    The former minister of finance is the first African and woman to head the Organisation since its creation.
