American model, Naomi Campbell has pitched her tent with Wizkid over Beninese singer, Angelique Kidjo.

The model criticised the Academy awards, who are in charge of Grammys for overlooking his album.

Providing support for Wizkid, she described his album, Made In Lagos as phenomenal and declared him the real winner.

Naomi crowned him as the King among his people, who has brought Afrobeats mainstream, which is way bigger than any award.

She wrote on her Instagram page, “To my brother @wizkidayo, #MadeInLagos was beyond a phenomenal album!! WINNER WITHOUT DOUBT!! You are the KING of the people, that has bought AFROBEATS mainstream, that means more than any academy of any sort….@recordingacademy Once again you choose to be tone deaf to what is going on the universe. Changing World Global is not Enough…get up to speed on the state of all popular music and include Afrobeats Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year and all the subcategories that this genre so deserves – just as an other respected and recognized musical genre. #MadeInLagos Album and song Essence, was clearly in the wrong category, how can you ignore the song Essence, The song by Wizkid, and Tems that was covered and remixed by Justin Bieber, you seem to isolate under global, when it should have been in song of the year category. This is a mis representation and a neglectful categorization of Music ONCE AGAIN. Give Afrobeats the representation it deserves. You are ignoring 1.3 billion people it will only make us Rise!! Kemi Filani news recalls Bobo Ajudua better known as Prince, the legal practitioner for popular singer, Davido had surprised many as showed his support for the singer following his loss.

The lawyer questioned how Angelique Kidjo song, ‘Mother Nature’ beats Wizkid’s Essence to win the Best Global Music Album.

Giving his two cents, Davido’s lawyer took to his Twitter page to console the singer.

He stated that Wizkid deserved to win as his song gave the world a national anthem.

He tweeted, “I don’t know much, and don’t speak much on these things, but we ALL KNOW that award belonged to ‘Essence’. They gave the world an ANTHEM”.
