Mixed reactions have been trailing reports that disclosed that the organizers of Big Brother Naija, known as BBNaija and Big Brother South Africa, known as BBManzi, would merge into one house.
PulseNG tweeted that the Chief Executive Officer of MultiChoice, John Ugbe unveiled the next plans for the Big Brother franchise show in Africa. According to the tweet, Big Brother Naija would merge with Big Brother South Africa in one house.
“Coming soon to your screen is the Big Brother Naija + Big Brother South Africa in one house”, John Ugbe, CEO @MultiChoice.
Although the location and date for the merging are yet to be updated, reports making rounds claimed the merging would take place in 2023, and it would feature past winners and other top housemates of the show.
However, mixed reactions are trailing this report as many refused to acknowledge the move while some claimed it would be exciting to watch more dramas.
Kemi Filani recalls that lovers of Big Brother Naija season 7, Level Up, were confused when reports emerged that the show’s organizers were about to unveil a new level in the house.
A post shared online via the DSTV Nigeria official Instagram page disclosed that another level will be unlocked during the Sunday night live eviction show.
It reads: “Superfans, another eviction Sunday is here. Who will be leaving Big Brother’s house and unlocking a new level? Catch it live at 7 pm. Not home?”
Many who reacted to this development expressed confusion on why another level would be introduced to the ongoing reality show when it is just a few weeks to the final.
This decision did not sit well with many Big Brother Naija fans, who wanted their favourites saved at all costs. However, some believed the new level announcement was a trick by BBNaija’s organizers to entice many into watching the live eviction show.
The new level was later introduced for housemates evicted during the Sunday 11, September live eviction show. Evicted housemates were kept in the new house before merging with other housemates.
