Nigerian singer, Akinmayokun Awodumila better known as May D has finally spoken out hours after being called out over N11k unpaid debt.
Kemi Filani reported that a Nigerian waitress, identified on social media as Black Goddess, claimed that the singer allegedly refused to pay for an alleged outstanding balance of N11K for a meal he bought in January.
She recounted how the singer and his friends came to the hotel where she works on the 12th of Jan, 2024 when she served them food and drinks which amounted to N56K. She revealed that he and his friends left for a club that same day and didn’t arrive until the next day, and since she needed to do her daily account by 10 am the next day, she decided to contact the singer through his phone number that was given to her by a friend of his who was still in the hotel.
To her surprise, he had given her an offensive reply instead, and After much back and forth, he finally paid N45K with an outstanding balance of N11K since January.
The lady accompanied her post with several screenshots to back up her claims.
“My encounter with a celebrity as a waitress….
Disclaimer: This isn’t clout chasing, I just want my money!!!
So about two months ago Mr MayD and his friends came to the hotel where I work to lodge, and I served them food and drinks, it was on Friday, 12 of Jan 2024….
So after he had food and drinks on Friday, they all went to the club and didn’t come back that same night, was so scared coz I would have been the one to pay if he ended up not paying, but one of his friends was still in the hotel so I was a bit assured I’ll get the money..
Fast forward to the next day which was Saturday 13th, of Jan 2024.
Our hotel rule is to do our sales account before 10 am in the morning, so I got his contact from his friend who was in the hotel to reach out to him so I can get the money and his response was totally offensive.
Still, I kept my cool coz I wouldn’t want to get blocked and end up paying for money I didn’t owe, which I still did coz he only sent part of his payment and I had to cover up the balance of 11k with my salary at the end of the month…”.
Reacting to it, May D, via the micro-blogging platform, X, told those dragging him to leave him alone as he revealed that he is broke.
Asking the lady to send him her account number, he promised to pay her at the end of the month when he collects his salary from his boss.
“You people should leave me alone I’m broke, she should send her account, I’ll pay her at the end of the month when I collect my salary from my Oga .. 11k Abi”.
Similarly, last year, Nigerian Tribal model, Adetutu Alabi accused music star, Davido of owing her.
In a post on her Instagram page, the model, who featured as a video vixen in one of the singer’s music videos, claimed that the singer is still owed her. Though she admitted that she doesn’t have much evidence, she stated that the singer has the evidence as their interaction was done via Direct Message (DM).
She revealed that she was too excited that she didn’t sign any document when Davido reached out to her and after the video shoot, she was only given money for tfare and all efforts to reach out to the singer proved abortive.
