Late fashion influencer Austa’s mom Cordelia Okonye took to Instagram to make a post, commemorating her daughter’s posthumous birthday, which would have made her twenty-two years old. In her post, she shared a cute video of Austa walking in and wearing her headphones. Under the video, Cordelia Okonye wrote in her caption, ‘Happy Posthumous Birthday my baby. Your life was cut short but I know, heaven gained. You are an angel and more. Words keep failing me my baby. I will be at your resting place today to wish you happy birthday. Keep resting mummy, I love you so much and your Maker loves you most’
It is evident from Cordelia Okonye’s post that she is still going through a lot of pain from her daughter’s death. Cordelia Okonye has been through a lot since her daughter’s tragic demise in July 2023. Austa’s case has indeed been very peculiar, with her boyfriend, who was a suspect running away and evading questioning. Austa’s boyfriend who goes by the name of Killaboi on social media had netizens dropping their jaws when he confessed to killing Austa, but was still nowhere to be found, and evaded questioning from the police after he was declared wanted.
Killaboi evaded the police but still went online to release various rants, talking about how sorry he was that Austa died, and that it was a mistake. At some point, he claimed that she was toxic, and that they were engaged in a struggle before he mistakenly stabbed her. The internet was gagged at his audacity to continuously post even after being declared wanted.
A few months after he was declared wanted, Killaboi was found in a neighboring country with a fake passport and remanded in police custody. However, since his arrest, there has been no news of any progress made on his case. It is not certain whether he was being arraigned before a court of Justice. The case has remained unsolved, with no clear information put out to the public.
Despite the fact that Austa’s case remains unsolved, one thing that is certain is the fact that her mother Cordelia Okonye fought for her till the end. She constantly posted about the case on social media, calling for help, even when it seemed to be falling on deaf ears.
