It is widespread jubilation for fans and lovers of singer, Davido as a day in the US has been dedicated to him.
The Afrobeats singer, who is currently on tour for his new album, shut down the city of Texas, as he performed at the Toyota Center in Houston.
Following the sold-out show, every July 7 has been dedicated to Davido as ‘Davido’s Day’ In Houston.
This was made known by the Mayor of the city, who commended him for his significant contributions to the music industry.
Davido’s rival, Wizkid also has a day dedicated to him in the US
The U.S. governor in 2018 declared every October 6th as Wizkid Day.
This year is no doubt a year of recognition for Davido.
Davido reacts as FG confers him a national honor award
Last month, Davido was conferred with a national honor award by the federal government of Nigeria.
The government conferred Davido Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
Sharing the news on his Instagram story, Davido showed the lists of others awarded the same honor as him, marking out his name.
The singer, who was appreciative of the honor, captioned the post with his name, “David Adeleke OON”, and the Nigerian flag.
His uncle, Ademola Adeleke, celebrated him for making the Adeleke family proud and also for being a good ambassador of Osun State.

Reacting, Davido expressed gratitude to the Federal Government following the conferment of National Honor.
Taking to his Instagram page, Davido appreciated the government for the recognition and honor.
He noted how it had been his mission to use his platform to showcase his country.
“Honored to hear the news that I have been conferred with an OON (Officer of the Order of The Niger) by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
I am grateful for this recognition and honor. It has always been my mission to use my platform to showcase our country – the passion, the resilience, the joy, the culture, and of course, the struggles of our people. I do not take any of this for granted. We have one Nigeria, and we will continue to do whatever we must to make it better!
