Veteran actress, Joke Silva almost broke down in tears during her speech as she received a lifetime award for her husband, Olu Jacobs.

Olu Jacobs whose health is deteriorating has been off the movie scene and public scene for a few years now.

His wife who opened up to Chude Jideonwo, revealed that he was battling with dementia.

According to her, it’s a degenerating disease which affects his brain and his person.

As a result of the disease, the actor couldn’t make it to the honorary event.

Joke Silva and her son, Jacobs junior went on his behalf to receive the award.

The veteran bagged an lifetime achievement award at irep film festival, Lagos.

“@mrjacobs_jnr and I receiving the @irepfilmfestival Lifetime Achievement award on behalf of Sir J @_olujacobs. Thank you iRep. The incredible festival is on @freedomparllagos till the 20th of March”.

Kemi Filani news recalls Olu Jacobs also bagged an achievement award at AFRIFF Global award.

Richard Mofe-Damijo had announced the news while penning a special tribute to him.

In a post shared on his Instagram page, RMD congratulated Olu Jacobs for a well-deserved lifetime award during the Afriff event.

He also expressed appreciation to Olu Jacobs and his wife Joke Silva for being gracious and a blessing.

He wrote: Congratulations my very own uncle J @_olujacobs. A well deserved Life Time Achievement Award. Because of you I’m Pathfinder. I celebrate you and your family this morning.

It is my good fortune that I can call you and my baby Sister @ajokesilva family. Thank you for ever being so gracious to me. Like my people will say, my knees are on the ground for you. It is well with you!
