Jaiye Kuti addresses backlash
Addressing the backlash, Jaiye Kuti stated that she isn’t stopping ailing veterans from seeking help. However, she is decrying the rate at which many are misusing the opportunity for their selfish gains.
“I don’t just talk anyhow, people don’t understand what I am saying. I read over 500 comments and I am addressing those who misunderstood my message.
I didn’t say we should use social media to help people or that people should come out to ask for help, but my message is for those who want to spoil the industry’s name with begging.
I have also used my social media to seek help for people, and they have sent messages appreciating me.
I am talking to those who feel entitled to getting help because others are getting help from Nigerians. I told two of those veterans to not come out and beg for help so that when they are in dire need, they wouldn’t lack helpers.
Let only those who are sick, seek help, but those who are healthy, they should stop coming out to beg”.
Yomi Fabiyi blasts Jaiye Kuti over her remarks on veteran actors
Recall that actor, Yomi Fabiyi had blasted Jaiye Kuti over her statement.
Taking to his Instagram page, Yomi Fabiyi slammed her, while stating that if anybody needs help and comes public, it shouldn’t bother the actress.
Yomi added that if she can’t help any of the ailing actors or those that are not financially buoyant, she should let them breathe.
“If anybody needs help and indeed comes public with his or her brand, name, and face only. I don’t see why it should bother any. If you cannot find the means to recover all these veterans’ losses via piracy and exploitation by capitalists, then let them breathe. We, new millennium actors, are a little luckier but not better………”.
