After months of detaining pro-democracy activist, Omoyele Sowore, the Department of State Services has charged him to court for treasonable felony, cyberstalking President Muhammadu Buhari among other offences.
This new charges had gotten the reactions of some Nigerian celebrities.
Donjazzy and Adekunle Gold kicked against Federal government charges on Sowore for daring to organise a non-violent protest and for causing ‘insult’ on the person of Muhammad Buhari.
They both took to Twitter to express their displeasure.
Sowore, a Presidential aspirant at the 2019 Nigeria’s national election was arrested on August 3, 2019 in Lagos for planning a series of revolution protests. Another activist, Olawale Mandate, arrested in Osun, has also been charged by the DSS.
According to the charge, Mr Sowore was accused of involvement in acts of treason and alleged attempt to fraudulently transfer over $16, 000. He was accused by Nigerian government of trying to cause chaos and overthrow the government.
