Bamike Olawunmi, aka Bambam, was a favorite housemate for many while she was in the Big Brother Naija season 3 house, but she did not make it to the finals as she was kicked out in a surprise eviction.
Ever since leaving the house, Bambam has proven herself worthy and has handled fame better than most, appearing in music videos, promoting her beauty product line and influencing in the fashion and beauty space.
In an interview with Punch Newspaper’s Sunday Scoop, BamBam recounts her time in the house, the tension at some point and the relief that eviction brought.
She said, “Getting into the house, I was homesick for some days but because of my adaptive nature, I was able to get by. Sadly, when there was tension in the house, it sort of wore me out. I didn’t enjoy the negativity that went around. When I got evicted, it felt like a gush of fresh air.”
Narrating that she had just finished from film school and was house hunting when she got the call that she had been chosen to be part of the show, Bambam said her parents did not quite support her decision to be on reality television. She said, “My parents were not supportive of me going into the house but I was doing the exercise for myself and over time, they got to understand that. Of course, they weren’t excited that their child was in a reality TV show but as a grown up lady who is responsible for her own decisions, they got to respect that.”
The graduate of Microbiology from Bells University, Ota also spoke on her challenges since leaving the Big Brother house. “The only challenge I’ve had since leaving the house is trying to balance my new reality, though nothing has really changed. The hustle is the same but there’s just a bigger platform that has put me out there to be known and seen by more people“, she said.
