News reports have revealed that the United States police are currently questioning two persons of interest in Jussie Smollett’s homophobic attack.
According to TMZ, the two suspects are Nigerians and were reportedly extras on the set of FOX series, “Empire,” of which Smollett is a major character.
The two suspects are reported to have flown out of the united states on the night of the attack and returned on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, over a week after the attack.
During the raid, incriminating items such as 5 bottles of bleach, a red hat, 2 laptops, and others were reportedly found and seized by the police.
The two men have reportedly been identified by the Chicago PD as the 2 men in the surveillance video screen grab. Transportation records, as well as interviews with Jussie and other witnesses, reportedly identified the suspects.
This comes two weeks after a video screengrab of the suspects was released by the police in the Empire star’s assault case.
Recall that the Chicago Police spokesman, Anthony Guglielmi, disclosed the process through which investigators gathered footage that could possibly lead to the arrest of the suspects.
Guglielmi tweeted at the time, “Photos of people of interest who were in the area of the alleged assault & battery of Empire cast member.”
He also shared photos showing the figures of both men, both wearing dark clothing, walking beside each other.
Jussie Smollett’s family have also released a statement, describing him as “a warrior whose light cannot be dimmed.”
