Multiple award-winning box office actress Funke Akindele has reacted as her junior colleague, Alesh Sanni, petitions the organizers of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards 2023 for her movie, Battle on Buka Street.

It was surprising to many when Funke Akindele did not clinch an award at the 2023 AMVCA despite her movie being the highest grossing Nollywood of all time.

On Instagram, Alesh Sanni claimed the low ratings of Funke Akindele’s movie was as a result of many not being able to afford it at the cinema.

The actor noted that the availability of the movie on Prime Video got many testifying about the accolades awarded to the movie from reviews.

Alesh Sanni acknowledged Funke Akindele and Mercy Johnson for beautifully interpreting their roles in the movie.

He wrote on Instagram, “AMVCA ORGANIZERS CAN DO BETTER PLS

Now that #BattleOnBukaStreet is now on Prime Video, I hope those that didn’t see it in the cinema can now bear witness that Funke Akindele is a legend*

Mercy Johnson brought all the onions to that movie. This movie made me laugh and cry.

Well done @funkejenifaakindele #mercyjohnson”

Funke Akindele reacted to Alesh Sanni’s petition with appreciation. She wrote, “Ose dear”

Alesh Sanni’s petition to the organizers of AMVCA is not the first one. Kemi Filani recalls that controversies trailed the 2023 award show as many called out the organizers for reportedly robbing certain celebrities of their awards.

Angry Ijebu calls out AMVCA for cheating in their Awards

A few hours ago, an angry Ijebu called out AMVCA’s organisers for allegedly cheating with their wards. The actor was captured in an online video chanting ‘ojoro’, literally translated as ‘fraud’ at the just concluded show.

Although Ijebu did not mention AMVCA, he, however, made it clear that he was hinting at the show because Femi Adebayo’s movie did not clinch any awards from the nomination.

From the video, Ijebu mentioned movies by Femi Adebayo which had been neglected by the awards and also noted that his latest film was not rewarded last night.

Mixed reactions trail Ijebu’s video as some agreed with the actor’s cry of foul, while others claimed Femi Adebayo’s Ageshinloke did not garner enough votes for it to win at the AMVCA show.

Kunle Remi brags as he finally speaks on AMVCA snub

Recall that Kunle Remi finally addressed his snub at the nominations of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards, AMVCA 2023.

It was no news that Kunle Remi was snubbed from the nominations list of the prestigious awards despite his undeniable role in Kunle Afolayan’s epic drama, Anikulapo, which earned 16 nominations.

Anikulapo bagged 16 nominations from AMVCA, while the lead actor, Kunle Remi, whose role geared many to watch the movie, was not part of the 16 nominations.

Speaking in an interview, Your View, Kunle Remi aired his opinion about his snub from the award. According to him, AMVCA does not belong to him, nor does he host the show. He claimed his snub has no way reduced him, his stylishness, fame, or energy.

Kunle Remi claimed he is unshaken by the snub because his role as ‘Saro’ was not taken because of an award, but rather because of a challenge.

Many have concluded that Kunle Remi’s snub was a result of an interview he granted where he spoke about a senior colleague trying to lure him into homosexuality.
