Singer Tems made history and broke records as she became the first female Nigerian Afrobeats artiste to win the best international act at the 2022 BET AWARDS.
The singer who keeps making Nigerians proud bagged two awards at the award event, which was held on Sunday, June 26th.
Adding to her feathers, 27-year-old Tems also took home the award for Best Collaboration from Wizkid’s song “Essence”, which features her and Justin Bieber.
This wasn’t just a big night for Tems alone but for Nigerian artists as well.
Singer, Fireboy also took centre stage with his incredible performance at the event.
Reacting to it, Don Jazzy noted how busy Afrobeats had been of late.
The Mavins producer stated that he was super proud of the game as artists kept making us proud both at home and abroad.
“Afrobeats has never been this busy. You look left and right, home and abroad, there is so much to make you smile with pride. I’m super proud of the game”.
Don Jazzy had declared singer, Wizkid as the African pop culture artist of the decade.
Artiste Adesope Olajide had taken to his page to question who Nigerians would crown their African pop future artist.
He threw the question hours after Billboard declared Drake the artist of the decade.
Following the news, Adesipe questioned who Nigerians would rank as their artist of the decade.
“Since Billboards awarded Drake the artist of the decade, who will you give that accolade to in African pop culture”.
Don Jazzy took to the comment section and declared Wizkid the artist of the decade.
He commented with, “Wiz”.
