Grammy award-winning artiste, Damini Ogulu better known as Burna Boy has explained why he was late to his Lagos concert.
Kemi Filani reported that the singer’s concert which took place on Sunday night, January 1st was held around 3a.m, rather than 7pm.
In a post on his Instagram story, Burna Boy apologised to his Lagos fans for the disappointment. He vowed that he wouldn’t perform in Lagos again despite his love for his fans.
Giving reasons, Burna stated that the type of organisational structure and infrastructure he needs, isn’t available.
However, he is planning to build a world class infrastructure and is opened to working with investors and stakeholders to bring his vision to life.
I love you but I can’t do this again. The organisational structure and infrastructure is not there for the complexities of my audio and Production needs.
Let’s be clear. I wasn’t late, my band wasn’t late. We pride ourselves on being highly professional especially with out stage craft. There were three options available to me; wait for audio to be fixed and delay the show, come out at 11pm as planned with no sound or call breach of contract and pull the plug.
I know I can’t go all over the eod and neglect my own people so I’m taking matters into my own hands! I’m gathering the troops to work on building world class infrastructure in the Nigerian entertainment business.
Investors and stakeholders, interested pls hit me up, we need to make some changes.
I apologize to my fans for how hectic it was, thank you for staying and watching the storm with me.
I commend my band for making lemonade with the worst lemons we’ve ever seen…..”.
Burna Boy humiliates his fans
Kemi Filani reported that after fans complained of his late arrival at the Lagos concert for the cross over night into the new year, Burna Boy humiliated them by cursing them.
He declared that he only decided to attend the concert out of goodwill and that he would have gone home if not for pleas from Seyi Vibez.
He accused the concertgoers of labeling him a murderer after a shooting incident between the singer and a newly-wedded couple at Obi Cubana’s club in Lagos last year and for mocking his mother for being Fela Kuti’s dancer before telling them, “I still love you, if you no love me, na God go punish you!”
“Fucking National TV dey talk like. Don’t know what is fucking happening and you all still laughing, not knowing it is serious. This na my life, they fit end my life because of rubbish”.
Okey Bakassi makes interesting revelations about Burna Boy
Kemi Filani recalls that Okechukwu Anthony Onyegbule popularly known as Okey Bakassi, a Nigerian stand-up comedian and actor had made certain interesting revelation about music star, Burna Boy.
According to Okey Bakassi, he had worked together with Burna Boy about a decade ago and was initially worried about his personality, however, he has grown to make Nigeria proud through his choice of music.
The comedian made this known via his Instagram page, where he shared Burna Boy’s image and captioned it: “We worked together, almost a decade ago on the Globacom tour. His talent was obvious, looked shy off stage but had so much presence on stage. I was initially worried about his personality because, in my 30yrs on stage I’ve seen so many promising talents decline due to personality issues.”
“Today, I just want to celebrate @burnaboygram for his accomplishments, for putting himself and Nigeria on the world entertainment map.
Burna Boy becomes the first African artist to have 4 songs reach number #1 on Apple Music (All genre) in at-least 10 countries in a single year.”
