Baba Ijesha: ‘Hear my colleague’s side of the story before cancelling him’ Actress Adebimpe Akintunde appeals to Nigerians

Amidst the new development on how popular Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, also known as Baba Ijesha, was caught and arrested by men of the Lagos State Police Command for raping a fourteen-year-old girl.

Nollywood actress Abiodun Adebimpe Akintunde has appealed to Nigerians to hear her colleague’s side of the story instead of cancelling him outrightly.

In a post shared on her Instagram page, the actress averred she is not supporting Baba Ijesha and as she would never pray that any of her daughter or sister gets molested.

According to the actress, cancelling cultures should not be the first approach to the allegation as she demands that both parties be allowed to share their own side of the story.

The actress wrote: I am not supporting Baba Ijesha and I can never support a case of rape. I am a woman and I have a daughter and sisters, I will never pray we get molested. What I am saying is cancel culture shouldn’t be the first approach to allegations. Hear from both parties and most importantly, social media isn’t a court of law. The eagerness to spread negative news about celebrities is a cancer in Nigeria.

Kemifilani had earlier reported that the victim’s mother, who suspected that her daughter was sexually abused, installed the CCTV to uncover the perpetrator. While monitoring the situation in her home on her phone, she saw Baba Ijesha allegedly conducting himself in a suspicious manner around her daughter.

The thespian allegedly took the victim away from the sitting room into the kitchen, where there was no CCTV camera installed, and the mother, who rushed back home upon the discovery, allegedly caught Omiyinka defiling her daughter in the kitchen.

The victim’s mother was said to have been inconsolable after her discovery.
