Actress Kemi Lala Akindoju has stated that she prefers to remain in poverty instead of killing professionalism by taking up 3 movie roles at the same time.
The actress revealed this in a series of tweets in which she spoke about the ills plaguing Nollywood.
”An actor like me can’t take 3 roles at once- my art is still important to me. So actors like me become friends with poverty, or we find other streams of income or we become frustrated. Let me tell you another truth MANY NOLLYWOOD ACTORS ARE FRUSTRATED AND CANNOT GIVE THEIR BEST”, Kemi Lala AKindoju.
She added that she doesn’t care about getting paid good morning as an actress as long as she loves what she’s doing.
”When was the last time I was paid ‘good money’ as an actor? …..I can’t remember. But because I love my job, I want to perform and show the world what I can do, I don’t want my talent to just be for me and my family, I take the roles..at least some. I’m learning to say no now”.
”You might say ‘know your worth, put your feet down and demand the right fees’- then there is the fear of out pricing yourself or the hope that this will be the last and when people see how talented you are, you will get more work and then you can demad higher fees”.
