The statement read in part; “the Guild has been monitoring his involvement in illicit substances since December last year until it got out of hand, and as it is now, he cannot be allowed to associate with other performers on set due to danger.
He ought to have been suspended before now. But we decided to allow him go through minor treatments, which he has been defaulting overtimes. But as it stands now, Jerry is a risk not only to himself but also, to other actors who might be acting alongside him on set.
We, therefore have decided to suspend him indefinitely until he gets a clean bill of health from a medical practitioner or a professional that handles drug abuse”.
Jerry Williams isn’t the only actor facing suspension.
AFRIMEK suspends actor, Papa Show for assaulting junior colleague, Temidayo Morkinyo
In May, actor, Shoneye Olamilekan otherwise known as Papa Show was suspended from AFRIMEK for physically assaulting his female junior colleague, Temidayo Morkinyo.
Temidayo had accused the actor of physically assaulting her on a movie set.
In a series of posts on her Instagram story, Temidayo claimed that the actor had stormed her movie set in Ibadan, Oyo State with some boys to beat her up.
According to her, Papa Show punched her in the face and left her with a broken lip for reporting his unruly behavior to her bosses on Thursday, May 18.
Narrating the incident, she stated that she was on a movie set when Papa Show called her rudely to buy him a drink. She further stated that she felt ridiculed with how he talked to her, but didn’t disobey. She then reported him to his bosses, which infuriated the actor.
In a surprising twist, the actor stormed her set with some people to beat her up after he was reprimanded.
Reacting to it, The African Men Entertainment Kings (AFRIMEK) in a letter signed by the Mayor, Femi Adebayo, had distanced itself from the actor.
Femi Adebayo, in the letter, stated that his actions do not represent the identity for which their club stands for and has been known to present.
His shameful act has left the association to sanction him and place him on immediate suspension, while further investigations are ongoing.
