Nollywood actor Deyemi Okanlawon has advised men on the need to take of themselves irrespective of being the breadwinner of the family.
This comes a few days after the actor opened up on battling an undisclosed ailment for two years which made him cry at night, and during the days, he works and smiles like nothing is wrong with him.
In a post shared on the microblogging platform Twitter, Deyemi advises men to take good care of their physical and mental health by rewarding themselves with some quality time.
The actor added that there is a need for men to undergo regular checkup, speak to a therapist and a few other things to look at concerning their health.
According to Deyemi, there is no doubt that there are many bills to be paid, from school fees to food money and utility bills. However, they will always be sorted out whether a man is dead or alive.
Deyemi tweeted: Fellow Nigerian men, PLEASE take care of your physical and mental health. You didn’t choose your gender or the label of PROVIDER so abeg no kill yourself. Take off time from chasing those cheques and reward yourself with some quality ALONE time. Get yourself regular medical checkups – there are several things we men need looked at.
Find time to speak regularly to a therapist. Trust me you don’t want to be a statistic. Las las rent, school fees, food money, utility bills, etc will always be there and will be sorted whether you’re dead or alive. If you no meet up tell them say na owe you owe you no kee pesin! God help us all.
Kemifilani recalls that Deyemi, while appreciating God for a successful surgery, the actor, in a post shared on Instagram, recounts how he battled an undisclosed ailment for two years and an unsuccessful medical procedure.
According to the actor, he had lived through the most excruciating pain of his life where he literally cried and screamed at night; however, he works and smiles like all is well with him during the day.
Speaking on his post-surgery experience, Deyemi said he feels like he has been given a new lease of life. He expressed appreciation to his wife, friends and family members for their prayers and support.
