Sophia Momodu, recently opened up about a troubling incident involving her daughter, Imade Adeleke. Taking to her Instagram story, she shared a video about a girl being bullied in school for her curly hair. This video reminded Sophia of a similar experience she and her daughter had faced.
Sophia recounted how her daughter was once teased by a classmate of a different race over the beads in her hair. This incident deeply affected Imade, who was so distressed that she cried. In response, Sophia decided to address the issue directly by visiting the girl’s mother, a visit she revealed had a lasting impact.
Although she expressed that Imade and the classmate eventually made up and are now friends, Sophia mentioned that she still exchanges looks with the other mother during school encounters.
In her story, Sophia spoke out about the need to teach children about self-love and kindness. She expressed her concern over the growing lack of kindness, which she described as a pandemic.
Responding to a direct message criticizing her for confronting the bully’s mother, Sophia explained her reason. She believed that speaking to the mother was necessary since the child was too young to fully understand the implications of her actions.
Recall that in August, she had shared her perspective on life, stating that she is now focused on love and positivity. She described herself as a blessed, happy, determined, and grateful woman. Her statement followed her previous comments on co-parenting challenges with artist Davido, touching on the issues of financial abuse faced by women and criticizing the inadequacies of the Nigerian legal system in protecting women and children. She questioned why women are often left to shoulder responsibilities when a relationship ends, calling for more support and legal protection.
