See famous American actors who discovered their African origins…
Some Black American celebrities have expressed an interest in tracing their ancestors over the years. Some of these celebrities have been able to do so thanks to DNA testing. In this piece, we’ll be looking at six well-known American actors who have uncovered their African ancestors.
1. Christopher Tucker
Cameroon and Angola were discovered to be his ancestors by American actors and comedians. His paternal ancestors were from Angola’s Ambundu ethnic group, while his maternal ancestors were from Cameroon’s Bamileke people. He apparently paid a visit to Angola after making such a discovery.
2. Samuel L. Jackson
The Hollywood veteran, like many African-Americans, wanted to learn more about his ancestors. Samuel L. Jackson discovered that he was descended from the Gabonese Bantu tribe. He travelled to Gabon, where he met President Ali Bongo Ondimba and was granted Gabonese citizenship and a passport.
3. Anderson, Anthony
DNA testing suggests that Anthony Anderson is descended from the Bubi people of Equatorial Guinea, as well as the Tikar, Hausa, and Fulani people of Cameroon.
4. Idris Elba
The well-known English actor does not require a DNA test to determine his African ancestry. Idris’ father, Winston Elba, is Sierra Leonean, while his mother, Eve, is Ghanaian. During his first visit in 2019, he was granted Sierra Leone citizenship.
5. LeVar Burton
The American actor, director, and producer of German ancestry discovered that he is genetically related to the Hausa people of Nigeria.
6. Chris Rock
Following DNA testing, prominent American actor and comedian Chris Rock revealed he is descended from the Udeme (Ouldémé) of northern Cameroon. He has yet to return to his ancestral home.
