She earned her First School Leaving Certificate, West African Senior School Certificate and Bachelor’s Degree.

Rita Nzelu joined the Nigerian film industry (Nollywood) in 1990 and starred in her first film, “Living in Bondage,” which helped propel Nollywood to popularity. The film “Living in Bondage” became a box office success, catapulting her to fame.

Rita Nzelu then stopped acting and moved to London, England, with her family, where she became devoted to her husband, Simeon Okoro and her children.

Rita Nzelu has won multiple honours for her acting career, including Best Actress of the Year at the City People Entertainment Awards, Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the African Magic Viewers Choice Awards, and Most Promising Actress in Nigeria at the Africa Movie Academy Awards. Rita Nzelu made a name for herself in the Nigerian film business and was one of the highest-paid actresses in the country before retiring. She also received the Africa Movie Academy Awards for Best Comedy Actress in Nigeria for her part in the Nollywood comedy film “Ukwa,” in which she co-starred with Nkem Owoh.
