JAMB speaks on 2019 cut off marks

The cut-off mark to attain before faining admission into universities in Nigeria has been given as 160 by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB.

The cut-off mark was declared at the Bola Babalakin Auditorium, Gbogan Osun State when the examination board met for the 19th Policy Meeting on Admissions to Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria.

The minimum of 140 was approved as UTME score into private universities while 110 for admission into private polytechnics.

Results of 15,490 candidates who wrote the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, have been released by the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board, JAMB.

This was contained in a statement signed by JAMB Head of Media and Information, Dr. Fabian Benjamin.
The results were released after clearing the candidates of various examination infractions.

According to the statement, “the release followed the expert review of the cases of the category of candidates who were requested to upload certain credentials for scrutiny.”

To conclude the review exercise, all the candidates who had different issues had to be classified into categories. The categories had to do with those who have been proven innocent and those with inconclusive evidence of culpability.

“And others were in the category of those whose upload of evidence necessitated further interrogation, those whose culpability have been firmly established thereby necessitating the cancellation of their results.

“A total of 321 results were therefore conclusively cancelled and the candidates duly notified,” he said.

Giving reasons for the cancellation of results, Benjamin revealed that it was due to failure of the candidates to upload evidence of their identity as against the other impersonators. He added that four CBT centres were delisted after they were found culpable.
