The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, is in a marathon emergency meeting in Abuja following the two-month extension of strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.
ASUU had declared a one-month warning strike on Valentine’s Day over the failure of the Federal Government to satisfactorily address all the issues raised in the 2020 FGN/ASUU Memorandum of Action (MoA). The lecturers’ body after its National Executive Council (NEC) emergency meeting held in Abuja on Sunday on March 13, 2022, extended the strike by two months.
The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, is now in an emergency meeting following the extension of industrial action by ASUU.
NANS President, Sunday Asefon told our correspondent that the students’ body would make their next line of action known after the meeting.
“We would communicate shortly. We are having a meeting today, after our meeting we will brief the press,” he said.
It would be recalled that NANS President, Sunday Asefon had earlier led a protest to Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu’s office when ASUU declared one month action on Valentine’s Day. The minister walked out of the meeting with the students.
