Akinwumi Adesina, the head of the Africa Development Bank, AfDB, has been cleared of corruption allegations levelled against him after an investigation by an independent panel.
The panel headed by former Irish president Mary Robinson exonerated Adesina from a report which stated that the bank under his watch has been married by poor governance, impunity, personal enrichment and favouritism.
The whistleblower allegations against the 60-year old Nigeria was dismissed by the Robinson-led panel.
“The Panel concurs with the Committee in its findings in respect of all the allegations against the President and finds that they were properly considered and dismissed by the Committee,” Monday’s report concluded.
Adesina is the sole candidate in the coming election for the position which he currently occupies.
