Xi Jinping: Early Life
Xi Jinping was born on 15th June 1953 in Beijing to Xi Zhongxun. Xi Jinping belonged to a family of political leaders. His father was Vice Chairman of the National People’s Congress.
Xi Jinping’s secondary education was interrupted by the Cultural Revolution. His house was ransacked, and one of his sisters was killed. Xi Jinping was paraded before the public as an enemy of the revolution. He was sent to work in a village in Yan Chuan country as a part of measures taken during the Cultural Revolution.
He ran away to Beijing to escape the tough rural life. He was rearrested and sent to a camp involved in digging ditches. He completed his Chemical Engineering in 1979 from Tsinghua University. He later studied and completed his doctorate in Marxist philosophy at the same University.

Xi Jinping joined the Communist Party of China in 1974. He became Deputy Party Secretary of Zhengding County in 1982. He became Secretary in 1983 and served four provinces, namely Hebei, Fujian, Zhejiang, and Shanghai, till 2007.
In 1990 he became President of Fuzhou Municipal Party School. In 1997 he became an alternate member of the 15th Central committee of the Communist Party of China.
In 2000 he became Governor of Fujian and later Provincial Party Chief of neighboring Zhejiang. He was elected a full member of the 16th Central Committee in the year 2002, thus elevating him to the national level. He was known to take a tough stance against corrupt officials, which earned him national fame.
In the year 2006, he became Party Chief of Shanghai. During his tenure in Shanghai, he worked for preserving the unity of the local party organization and tried to follow the directions of Central leadership. In 2008 he was elected Vice President of the People’s Republic of China.
