Wizkid was raised in an interfaith family with twelve female siblings. His mother is a Pentecostal Christian, but his father is Muslim. Wizkid went to Ijebu Ode Grammar School. He was raised on the music of King Sunny Ade, Fela Kuti, and Bob Marley.
In a 2012 radio interview with Tim Westwood, he stated that “his father has three wives.” Wizkid revealed in another interview with Adesope of Factory 78 TV that he founded the Glorious Five with a couple of his church pals. Before disbanding, they managed to release an album. Until 2006, Wizkid went by the stage name Lil Prinz. Later, he met OJB Jezreel, a record producer who barred him from recording for a year.
