His real name is Wande Oluwatobi Ojosipe, and he was born on the 18th of October 1985 in Lagos Island to Chief Ibukun Olufunto and Mrs Omolara Oluwayemisi Ojosipe.
Wande Coal is the first of two children, the name of his other sibling is Towa Ojosipe.
The Lagos Island-born singer is a Nigerian by birth and celebrated his 36th birthday in October 2021.
Education
Wande Coal went to the Federal Staff Nursery and Primary School, Ijanikin, Lagos, before he proceeded to the Federal Government College, Ijanikin, Lagos, which happens to be the same school where his mother was a Home Economics teacher.
Wande Coal later gained admission to University of Lagos, Akoka (UNILAG) where he bagged a BSc in Curriculum studies.
Career
Wande Coal, like most of the Nigerian singers, started his career in the church; however, he became more serious with it when D’banj and Don Jazzy stormed Unilag for a show. The Black Diamond boss started as a dancer for D’banj before he became a backup singer.
He was, however, signed to Mo’hits, a label owned by Don Jazzy and D’banj, in 2006. It was during his stay he released his most popular song Ololufe which is considered Nigeria’s most powerful love song to date.
However, after Mo’hits was disbanded, Wande Coal signed to Don Jazzy’s record label Mavins but he would later leave to start his label.
Today, Wande Coal has worked with the likes of Ikechukwu, Naeto C, Dr SID, D’Prince, Davido, Wizkid, among others.
