The author was born on January 24, 1961, in Long Island, New York, United States. He was raised in Farmingville, New York. Russo completed his graduation in journalism from the University of Southern Indian in 1983. In the early days, he worked as an assistant sports editor at a school newspaper, The Shield.

Later Russo worked as an editor-in-chief for the newspaper. The author starts training for pro wrestling at Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn. He is the owner of two video stores located in Long Island, New York, United States. In 1992, he started hosting a local radio show named Vicious Vincent’s World of Wrestling. The show aired on Sunday Nights in Freeport, New York, United States. It aired only for one year exactly.
