The singer was born in Brownville, Brooklyn, New York. At an early age, the rapper moved to Staten Island. He is a beatboxer for famous American rapper Cappadonna. The friends of the rapper at that time were Method Man, Inspectah Deck, and Raekwon. Before becoming a member of the united, he was trained by Cappadonna in raping. Later he became friends with RZA and Ghostface Killah. He started his career with the alias name Golden Arms. Lamont changed his name to U-God.

After release, he is known for tracks like Winter Warz, Knuckleheads, Investigative Reports, and Black Jesus. The singer did not give much contribution to his first Album, but U-God was featured in the second group named Wu-Tang Forever.  He has a solo track Black shampoo on the Album. The son of Hawkins has shot accidentally and injured.

In 1999, the singer released Golden Arms Redemption and became an eight-member of the group to release a solo album. The Album’s two singles named Dat’s Gangsta and Bizarre get hit. Its song Rumble was featured on the video game Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style. After the success of the first album, the singer founded his own Album Suppa Nigga Productions. In 2005, the second Album Mr Xcitement of the singer released.

In 2009, the singer released Album named Dopium.  The Album features several guests like Sheek Louch, Jim Jones, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, GZA, Cappadonna, Method Man, Killah Priest, and Scotty Wotty. After four years, the rapped announced another album named Keynote Speaker. The executive producer of the Album was RZA. On July 23, 2013, the Album was released by Soul Temple Records. The Album contains a guest appearance from Styles P, Kool Keith, RZA, GZA, and Inspectah Deck.

He released a song named Venom through Babygrade Records and Soundcloud Records. He announced his new Album called Venom. In March 2018, the singer released his new album. U-God also released his autobiography named Raw: My Journey into The Wu-Tang with his Album. In 2018, the rapped released mixtape called Bring Back God II through the DatPiff platform.
