James Phillip Rome aka Jim Rome(born October 14, 1964) is an American sports radio host born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He is best known for hosting The Jim Rome Show, a CBS Sports Radio syndicated talk show. In addition, he is well-known for hosting Jim Rome Is Burning (formerly Rome Is Burning), which aired in both the United States and Canada.

Jim Rome was born on October 14, 1964, in Tarzana, California, the son of Jay Rome and Jan Rome. Jim, whose full name is James Philip Rome, attended Calabasas High School and graduated in 1982 before attending the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he earned a degree in Communications.
During his school years, he was considered negligent in his studies, preferring to spend his time in the radio station’s studio. Jim began his career in radio at his college-qualified radio station KCSB-FM, he was the radio station’s sports director and also at KTMS in Santa Barbara. He started his radio show “The Jungle” aka The Jim Rome Show on XTRA. The show was successful and had a large fan base, leading to its syndication in 1996.
Throughout his career, Jim has been involved in a few controversies, from his innuendo with Jim Everett to his offer of $3,000 to challenge any team playing against the Vipers to kick field hockey legend Gordie Howe, off the field when the legend expressed interest in playing for the Detroit Vipers in 1997. He apologized, however, and called it a joke.
During his career, he had several appearances in movies like “Space Jam”, “Two for the Money” and “The Longest Yard” (2005), he appeared in the sitcom “Arliss” and a music video. He also hosted the Pat Tillman memorial service on May 3, 2004.
