The acting career Elinor began when she was still a child. As a teenage actress, she had appearances in Love Is Better Than Ever in 1952 and in 1948 she appeared in Three Daring Daughters. Another film she appeared in her teen years was titled Girls Town in 1959.
Her stardom came in the early 1950s when she appeared in the family television series by the name of Father Knows Best.
