Derek Chauvin’s biography
His full name is Derek Michael Chauvin and he was born on the 19th of March 1976 but there no details of who his parent are.
The records revealed that Derek Chauvin’s mother was a housewife while his father was a certified public accountant, however, his parent divorced when he was only seven years old.
Derek Chauvin is an American by birth and turned 45 years old in March 2021.
Education
Derek Chauvin was a student at the Park High School in Cottage Grove, Minnesota, but he dropped out along the way, he would later go on to bag a GED certificate.
Upon bagging his GED, Derek Chauvin bagged another certificate in quantity food preparation form Dakota County Technical College and took up a job as a prep cook at McDonald and a buffet restaurant.
The record revealed that Derek Chauvin also served in the United States Army Reserve from between 1996 and 2004, which also included two stints in the military police.
While he was in the military, Derek Chauvin, proceeded to the Inver Hills Community College and later moved to Metropolitan State University where he bagged a degree in law enforcement in 2006.
Career
Derek Chauvin became a officer at the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) in 2001 and was quite an impressive officer as he received a medal for valor in 2006 for being among several officers who fired on a suspect who pointed a shotgun at them, and another incident in 2008 where he broke down a door and shot a suspect who tried to reach for his pistol.
However, the murder of George Floyd dented his career as the reports revealed that Derek Chauvin knelt on Floyd’s neck for about nine minutes while the late victim was handcuffed and calling out for help.
The incident saw Derek fired by the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) on May 26 and he was arrested on May 29.
Derek Chauvin would go on to plead guilty to federal charges of violating Floyd’s civil rights in December 2021 and is currently incarcerated at the MCF Oak Park Heights.
