David Soul Early Life & Age
On August 28, 1943, David Soul was born to Dr Richard W. Solberg and June Johanne (Nelson) in the city of Chicago, Illinois. His father was a Lutheran Minister, a professor of History and political science and Director of Higher Education for the Lutheran Church in America, which is now part of the ELCA, he was also the Senior Representative for Lutheran World Relief during the reconstruction of Germany after the Second World War from the year 1949 to 1956, and his mother was a teacher. Soul`s both grandfathers were evangelists, during his youth days, the family moved a lot due to the nature of his father`s job.
He graduated from Washington School located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, he later attended Augustana College, this is where his father is taught political science and history- after two years there he withdrew and moved to Mexico with his family where he joined and studied at the University of the Americans. It is there where Soul changed his career path to follow his passion for music, having been inspired by students who taught him to play the guitar. His first appearance when he left Mexico was in a club called The 10 O`clock in Minneapolis.

David Soul`s love life has been one hell of a rollercoaster, and he was married five times; he has five sons and one daughter. In 1964 is when he got married for the first time to Mirriam “Mim” Solberg, an actress, the marriage only lasted one year, and they had one child together.
He then married another actress by the name of Karen Carlson in 1968, they met on the set of the series “Here comes the bride,” and they too had one child but ended up divorcing in 1977.
When Soul was filming Starsky and Hutch, he was in an open relationship with an actress known as Lynne Marta. He married again in 1988 to Julia Nickson, they were blessed with a child, who is a songwriter/singer, her name is China Soul, and onto his fifth marriage to Helen Snell in June of 2010 but they had been in a serious relationship since 2002.

David Soul first came into the limelight when he starred as “Covered Man,” which aired on The Merv Griffin Show in 1966 and 1967, where he sang while wearing a mask. He explained, “My name is David Soul, and I want to be known for my music.” In the same year, he made his first debut on television in “Flipper.”
Following a number of guest appearances, including the episode “Apple” from the second season of “Star Trek,” he signed a contract with Colombia Pictures. He landed the role of Joshua Bolt on the Tv program “Here come the Brides together with Robert Brown, Bobby Sherman, and Bridget Hanley as co-stars. The series ran on the ABC network from 25 September 1968 to 18 September 1970.
His breakthrough came about when he starred as Detective Ken Hutchinson “Hutch” on Starsky & Hutch, and he played the role from 1975 to 1979. He had directed three episodes on the show, namely: “Huggy can`t go home” in 1979, “Manchild on the streets” in 1977, and “Survival” in 1977.
Approaching the mid to late 70s, Soul went back to singing as he had done earlier, and with the help of producer Tony Macaulay he recorded several hits including: “Don’t give up on us” (1977), and this hit reached No.1 in the US and UK, “Silver Lady” (1977) which topped the charts in the UK. Soul did so well in his music that he had five UK Top 20 singles and two Top 10 albums from 1976 until 1978. He also toured extensively in the US, Europe, Far East, and South America.
While in the US, Soul continued to make guest appearances in various television series like The Mansions of America, Casablanca, the yellow rose, The Key to Rebecca, and Miami Vice, among many others throughout the 90s and in the new millennium.
